Re: kawasaki 400 4x4

I don't own one, but I'm also thinking about buying one. The reviews I've read on the Kaw gave it a high rating. They revised the ATV in 1999, so there is no difference between the 2000 and 1999 model. Around where I live there are leftover 1999 models and thats where you can save some $$$$$$.

Re: kawasaki 400 4x4

I just purchased a "00" Prairie 400 4X4 on 1 Apr. I looked at all the brands and compared Polaris SP500 with the Prairie. After talking to some service techs, I decided on the Prairie. I felt there was to much maintaince on the SP500. I haven't had much time to ride yet so I can give you a good hands-on report.

I called Kawie and asked what the changes were from "99" to "00", and was told the "00" has a standard brake light and they change the drive-belt to a stronger one. My brother has a "99" and is very happy with it.

I was going to buy the "99" but was able to get a "00" for onlt $100 more. The "99"s are selling for $5495 here in CO. I got my "00" for $5650 tax.

As for the add-ons, it depends on what you're going to be doing. A winch is always nice, but a buddy and a tow strap work good too. A helmet is a smart move. Bags a good for carring stuff with you.
