I have a Yamaha 2005 yfz 450.The problem I am having is I have bought a new battery, and with in 2 hours of riding the battery is dead. This is what happened to the the other old battery,so i am sure it not the battery.Since I have owned the quad I have noticed that when I turn the headlights on they flicker with the motor,if I rev the motor the headlights get brighter.Does anybody know what the problem is.Stator, ignition coil
Thank you for any suggestions,
Brian

there are only two mechanical contitions that can cause this, one could be a faulty charging coil(in the stator assembly) or a bad regulator/rectifier. Assuming that all electrical conection are good. To test this you can measure ac voltage prior to the reg/rec conection. if the voltage rises with engine rpms then the culprit is the regulator. The only way to test the regulator is to replace it with a known good unit.
