1986 YFM 225 HELP Trans problem?

I have an 86' YFM 225, and a few days ago I was trying to pull a large trailer around the yard with it.. while backing up it was stuck so I gave it a little excessive throttle. Anyway the problem I am having is.. In 1st gear Reverse mainly and partially in Low it feels like something is binding up. It will move forward or in reverse a few feet and feel like it is binding and I have to hold the throttle down quite a bit to get it to move.. in 1st gear HIGH it doesn't seem to really be happening, it doesnt seem to be binding that is...

What is causing it, it appears there is quite a bit of moving parts in the trans what should I be looking for? are there any oneway clutches/roller clutches/or overrunning clutches in the trans? when I lift the rear wheels off the ground it feels like the wheels will roll fine one way then have some resistance the other way.

Any ideas?
