Prairie 400 4x4 help please

Hi,

I've got a Prairie 400 4x4 2002 with an idling problem.

It's got very few miles on it -- probably less than 100.

When cold, it'll only idle with the choke full on.

It take about 10-15 minutes to warm up enough to idle without the choke.

But, even then, the idle is low and often stalls out.

I've tried to adjust the idle speed, but that doesn't help --- when I turn up the idle speed (using the idle speed adjuster knob) the idle is too fast (hard to shift, too loud).

Is there a simple tune-up instruction available online?

Anything that I can check easily enough?

I'm concerned about starting to play with the mixture, and I don't know how to check clearance -- but I can follow directions very well (;-).

Thanks,

Joseph

Re: Prairie 400 4x4 help please

Have you had the first service done on it. Usually includes a valve adjustment and oil change?

Also try a new plug, most machines are shipped today with gunk all over them and sometimes it just takes a while for it to get burned out. Usually by the time it is burned out your plug is toast.

Also, have you let the machine set much, in a year 100 miles isn't much, so you may have a jet plugged with poor fuel.

good luck
