trailering question

IS it a bad idea to trailer an ATV in gear? There is no parking break and with the straps it still rolls a bit.

What is the best way to strap the ATV down? I rid ethe ATV on the trailer and strap it down. Would I be better served by turning the quad (perpendicular to the trailer)?

Re: trailering question

you should be able to leave the machine in nuetral, but set the parking brake. It is located on the left handle in conjuction with the clutch lever.

Push the little silver button down, and then pull the clutch baack and slide the lever.

Just make sure you use a good quality tie down. None of the walmart specials, use ones froma reputable dealer in your area.

They are usually thicker and are sewn stronger.

Re: trailering question

Yes, leaving your quad in gear while on the trailor can damage the transmission. Like Jimmy said your quad should have a parking brake (Ive never heard or seen one without). If you are absolutely positive you dont have a parking brake that is fine. I found that by leaving the parking brake equipped while transporting lots it can stretch the cable and thus later on feel as if you have less brakes and you have to adjust them. So we have started to transport our 5 quads without parking brakes and it works just fine going down the highway with 4 tiedowns / quad.
