Re: Oil for 660 raptor
If you recently did a rebuild i would use straight petroleum based oils, until you have approx 20 hours on the quad, after that you can switch to fully synthetic, I currently use amsoil 0-40 in my 02 raptor and love it, whatever oil you decide on just make sure it doesn't have any additives in it or any friction modifiers the raptors and clutch don't like it. since you just purchased the quad there is a couple things to do , first flush out any oil that was in there, on the raptor there is actually 3 places where oil will drain from, the main oil/engine bolt located on the left side behind the shifter, the oil tank itself small bolt on the bottonm front of the tank , and the oil filter itself. also the oil line on the botton of the tank there is 2 allen bolts , on the end of that line is a inline filter, undo the bolts and pull straight down on the line and pull it out there is a fixed filter you will need to clean (some solvent will do) I clean this filter about every 3 changes, most guys won't hassle with it but it should be done once in a while. after you drain all the oils put everything back together and add about a 1.1/4 quarts of oil and start your quad and let it idle for a few minutes to pull the oil from the tank then add the remaing oil..I belive it is about 2.6 quarts (check the manual)..thats about it if you need more assistance feel free to pm me...also a very important note , do not crank down any of the bolts just snug them up do not overtighten the bolts especially the tanks bolts.
