Which quad??? Raptor or 400ex

Ok, i'm looking for a quad to go four-wheeling mostly in the dunes. I am also going to do a lil bit of trail riding with it. I am a beginner but sense being over 6 ft tall the blaster is out of the question. I went to a few dealers and they recomended either the 400ex or the raptor. I am thinking of going with the raptor just b/c i have always like yamaha a lil better but my dad asked some random guy in a shop that he goes to, to have it motor work done for his jeep and that guy said the 400ex b/c it's easier to manuver then the raptor sense the raptor is a lil top heavy but i have also heard that once u get used to the raptor it really isnt that bad at all. So what are you opinions on these two quads???

Since you said you were a beginner, I would reccomend the 400EX over the Raptor.

Ok, you say the 400ex. Is there much difference in the shifting characteristics. Like how stiff the clutchs are and shifter location or should i just go to a dealer and sit on the two and see which one fits me better?

Re: Which quad??? Raptor or 400ex

I would reccomend going to the dealer to sit on them. Not only will that help you w/ those shifting questions, but some quads will feel uncomfortable. If the Raptor or 400EX feels uncomfortable to you (how far the bars are away, the shape of the seat, so many things that could make it uncomfortable for you) I wouldn't get it. You have to remember you are going to be spending many hours on it and it needs to be comfortable to you. But, keep in mind, if you have the money, you could mod it and maybe it would no longer bother you.
