suzuki z400- cracks in frame

I have a 03 Suzuki z400 and just found a crack in the frame near the front bumper. Does anyone know of any recalls or existing problems with the frame...

don't know of any recalls. But if you bought it from the dealer than i would take it back. Unless you caused the crack by running into something. I probably wouldn't ride it much either.

Re: suzuki z400- cracks in frame

I know a lot of guys are gusseting the frame. Here are a couple of pics of a front shock gusset job.

The fram has shown signs of cracking and these help a lot. I dont know of anything around the front bumper but with the beating the frames take I am not suprised.

Thanks so much for the reply and the photos. I am taking it to the dealer and over the phone he suggested the same thing. Again, thanks and great riding...

Re: suzuki z400- cracks in frame

There was a huge article on the z/KFX 400 frame issues in Dirt Wheels. Not sure which issue. But they went over fixing all the problems, gussetting, etc....

Check it out.

Re: suzuki z400- cracks in frame

Thanks for taking the time. I will try and find it. I took it to Suzuki, they have no recall on file. I have filed a claim. Do not know if it will go anywhere...Jim!

Re: suzuki z400- cracks in frame

Does anyone have an idea if Suzuki is going to solve the problem with the frames on the Z400 in the future???

I kow that I was looking at the Z250 and the frame is more beefy. It already has the support and gussets that should be on the Z400.

Wonder why they did it to the Z250 and not the Z400??????

Re: suzuki z400- cracks in frame

from what I've "heard" the '04's have been beefed up around the shock mounts, but don't quote me on that lol.
