Honda TRX250R No Spark!

We lost Spark on a 1988 Honda TRX250R Quad.

I have done all the tests in the workshop manual testing the exciter, coil stator etc. and everything appears to be in spec. I have tried a new CDI box. Still no spark.

Is there something that the workshop manual misses on this type of failure?

Re: Honda TRX250R No Spark!

My brother had the same problem, he rides a built up 88 250r. When he was riding at the silver lake sand dunes, after he parked it, no spark. All it ended up being was pulled wires, I think it was to the spark plug cap too. I don't know if this will help or not.

Re: Honda TRX250R No Spark!

had the same problem w/ my 89 250R. i tried everything, wasn't getting any spark. i eliminated it as being the stator cuz i turned the light switch on and kicked it over and over, the light came on. then i pulled the coil, checked the resistance between the terminals and they weren't anything like my Clymer manual said, so i ordered and new coil (stock replacement), and i'm not saying this will cure your problem, but after the new coil was in I kicked it over a few times and it fired right up, and it ran stronger than before. you could either have: a bad coil, a shorted out wire, a loose wire, or a bad stator. it could be one of these, more than one, or non of these at all. just check for loose or frayed wires first. Hope this helps.
