trouble staring my 300ex

When i try to start my 300ex is takes like 10 min to actually start it and to warm it up. When it is cooled you cant even rev it up without it boggin out and stalling. I use the choke and that doesnt make a difference. I just replaced the spark plug yesterday. And i also charged the battery because it was dead and i thought that was the problem. When I do get it started it sounds like it has trouble keeping itself going? Any help would be great..!

Re: trouble staring my 300ex

Well we dont know because we just bought it. It is a used bike. Its a 2000 but it is in good condition and runs really good when warmed up... How would you adjust it and know that it is jetted right?

Re: trouble staring my 300ex

plug read, look at the electrode, if it is black its fat, not bad but wont make your machine run to well, light tan is lean=bad, dont want that unless u like to buy new pistons, and good is a chocolate or coconut brown

Re: trouble staring my 300ex

i have a 2001 honda 300ex and a few 250x's you can check all those things but every honda i have ever had including my beloved 400ex was a cold hearted BLEEP! she always takes a while to warm up but unless the bogging persists after the bike is warm i wouldnt sweat it at all. It is just the price you pay for a reliable durable well built excellant wheelying machine
