Banshee-Top End

Well, I sold the ol' blaster for a banshee. I've rode the banshee for about a day now and went through one tank. I mixed a new one and now it seems to bog down at 3/4 + throttle. The spark plugs are new so I'm not getting much of a reading on them. I'm running 20:1 which seems rich. Is 24:1 the norm?

Re: Banshee-Top End

24:1 is the factory reccomendation. Yes 20:1 is rich. I ran 32:1 Yamalube 2R when i had a Banshee, and now in my YZ.

Bogging sounds like too rich. Are you running stock pipes and air box?

Re: Banshee-Top End

I use yamalube, not the racing stuff, just the norm. I have fmf fatty's with fmf powercores. Air box is stock. I won't find out till next weekend when I get my pipes done if the mix is right. Carbs are clean. I'll jump to 24:1 then try something in the 28-30 range next. Thanks for the help.

Re: Banshee-Top End

What jets are you running? If your at sea level, FMF reccomends 260 mains with the air box snorkel(no lid) removed and 30 pilots.

Re: Banshee-Top End

I just checked and it has 280's in it. I tryed 24:1 and didn't notice much difference. So you'd suggest 260? It seems to blow alot of smoke so I'm thinking the jet might be it.

Re: Banshee-Top End

Sounds like a deal to me. If you are too rich(280 is at sea level with your mods) then that would cause it to bog\fall on your face when you get to higher throttle levels. Go leaner(smaller main jet) and i think you will find utopia!

OR! You could get a nice Uni filter with Pro Design pro flow mount, lose the lid and jet up to 300main and 32.5 pilot!

Re: Banshee-Top End

Yeah, I guess I had to remove the airbox cuz I wasn't getting enough air, runs great now.
