Banshee or 400EX?

I am a first time ATV-buyer, and am looking for more input back before making any decisions.

I am 17 years old, about 6', 290lbs.

I am looking for a quad that can move fairly quick, yet is still not going to completely die at the site of a little mud puddle.

If there are any other quads that should be suggested, feel free.

Thanks.

Re: Banshee or 400EX?

have u ridden an atv before? if u have and know what ur doing i would go with the banshee, if not i would go with the 400. the 400's are nice atv's don't get me wrong, i own one. but it's a 4 stroke so u don't have to worry about mixing oil correctly. plus i have abused mine to death and back, it keeps on coming back for more. i would recomend a raptor but since u have not owned an atv before i would stay away from that. the banshee is a power machine when the power band hits it is quick as all hell. the 400 has a lot of parts to make it better as u get better. best of luck

first of all.....what type of riding are you planning on doing? I wont suggest anything until I know what type of riding....because there are different machines that will work better for certian riding....I ride a banshee and I use it for all riding...but i do not do mud bogs....

Re: Banshee or 400EX?

probably going to be mainly just dirt and grass riding, no mud-bogging, but I don't want to have to steer clear of puddles that get in my way. =)

Re: Banshee or 400EX?

OK dirt and grass, SO !!! you still havent answered any questions, what kind of rider are ya?
how many years have you ridden?
will you be jumping your new quad?
when your riding on dirt, will it be trail riding or hill climbing?
will you be riding in the sand?
are you looking for a quick quad , or a strong but predictable quad?
so many questions , so little time
these are the type questions we NEED to know so we can give better advise

Re: Banshee or 400EX?

Worry about mixing oil correctly????? You find out what mix you need and that's what you mix it at. How hard is that?

Re: Banshee or 400EX?

i know how to mix oil correctly, but i have know of a few people the did not and messed the motor up. plus those same people cold seized the motor for not letting it warm up correctly. it was just an observation on my part. and since he has not ridden before i did not want him to find out the hard way and blow even more money for an atv

Re: Banshee or 400EX?

I would have to say the 400ex if u want relieble bike also good to handle power, thats what i would chose. but if u want lots of speed go with the banshee but they have more matience than the honda though.

Re: Banshee or 400EX?

I thought we went over this 2 stroke needing more maintainance than a 4 stroke, JUST WHAT IS IT THAT A 2 STROKE NEEDS AND A 4 STROKE DOESENT ??? NOTHING !!! not if your taking care of your ride CORRECTLY
