I see harbor freight has a "High speed air body saw" for $19.99. Has anyone used one of these as a sawzall. Could I use is on wood with the proper blades. Any reasons why it wouldn't be worth $20 bucks? I figure it would be as good as a jig saw. Yes/No?

I have an older Snap-on one that I bought when I did stereo installs. I use mine a lot from cutting dashes, doors, boat installs, cutting holes in 'glass tubs, bodywork, fenders, etc. or anything else where I need to cut something in a comfined space.

Ditto what pbmcauliffe said. I also installed car audio for some time. I paid somewhere between $100 - $150 (been a long time) for my blue-point (snap-on). Paid for itself many times over.

An air saw has a shorter stroke than a sawzall. I've cut 1/2 and 3/4 mdf with it, however imo, a jigsaw or sawzall would be a better way to go if your cutting a lot of wood.

For $20, you can't go wrong. Very usefull tool.

I've got the Harbor freight one. If you're going to get one, be careful how think the replacment blades are. Mine jammed all the time until I added dual air filters and found thinner than normal blades.

I used mine to cut back my CJ fenders. It cuts great through sheet metal. It doesn't do well on the thinker stuff and I don't think that it will like wood much.
