If the offset from the wheel flange to the backing plate is the same, it should work, but I think you'll find the offset to be slightly different. In that case you'll need to change the backing plates also. I've seen some Jeep Dana 44s that have a completely different bolt pattern on the axle tube flange, so it may take a little work to bolt up the Jeep backing plates.
