People are doing shackle flips becasue it is an easy, inexpensive way to gain 4" of lift without using blocks and it maintains the use of a fairly flat, flexible spring. the most common method is to use a kit available from <a target="_blank" href=http://www.offroaddesign.com>www.offroaddesign.com</a>, although there are some homebrew methods out there too. Generally a flip is not recommended for towing, but is an excellent mod if you don't tow or only tow very light trailers occasionally.
