the welds should be strong..

I'll do them properly not just fire up the welder and start making sparks..

I've added some mondo (read: large) washers on the inside to protec the crossmember from allowing the bolts to pull through..
If it ever needs to come off it's going to be a job for the grinder as I can't get the bolts out..

the welds will be 12" long, top and bottom, either side, thats a total of 48" of welds.. 1/2 in tension, 1/2 in compression. the inside welds will only go in 2-3" as that's all I'll be able to reach..
never the less that will add another 24+ inches of weld area.
