Re: the noise is back!!
I had to replace my crank pulley because it was worn out and the belt was now touching the bottom of the V. That meant that no matter how much I tightened the belt (hard on the bearings!) the belt had not traction, as it's the sides of the belt that make proper contact. Anyhows, I swapped the drive pulley from a spare motor and never had a problem since. It was always worse in the cold or if snow got sucked in thru the radiator.
