Is the Knocking noise consistant throughout the rpm curve? starting at or around 1500 to 2000 and up? and you said it goes away after warmup or can it still be heard faintly. I have heard that some of the 4.3 vortecs had wrist pin problems similar to the small block of the same era(ie 95-up LT1). it had something to do with the pistons used in the motor.
