Better linkage setup????

Okay now I'm getting kinda pissed. I'm going to work and the clutch pedal goes to the floor. I hop out and look and the linkage has separated at the pivot closest to the tranny. I pulled out the plastic bushing and it was sorta eaten up. In went a new one..thank goodness I ordered a couple extra last time...and then I was putting the metal clip on and it didn't seem to go in to securely. I just ordered a couple new ones. Well, same thing happened today going to work..popped on foot for a mile to work.

What I am wondering is..1- Why are these bushings getting eaten, and 2- is there a better way to hold everything together other than a tiny metal clip?

Thanks for any suggestions...
