Tranny pan won\'t stop leaking.....

I am jumoing over here from the mid-sized board to ask a question for a friend. He has a late '90s Wrangler. He changed the tranny filter and after he re-installed the pan, it leaked. He changes the gasket again, and it still leaked. He pulled the pan back off and checked all surfaces for flatness and everything is perfect. This wrangler doesn't spend anytime off road, so there are no dents or dings in the pan. Are there any special tricks or procedures to get the pan on square and without leaks? Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a common problem? Any info you have is appreciated. Thanks in advance, Taz(Mike).
