An option to convert to 6 lug would be different Dana 44 axles. I keep a couple spare long side rear Dana 44 axles from a mid 70's full size Cherokee Chief, that are 6 lug. You could find similar axles, then have them cut and resplined to match the Scout II. The bearings are the same, so the axles would be interchangable. The only difference would be the bolt pattern for the retaining plate. It's kind of a push / pull on expense, some areas it's less expensive to ship parts to be modified, yet in other areas it's less expensive to find used parts and have a local machine shop modify parts.
