relocate str.box vs. shorter pitman

Here's my predicament: I just installed Sam's heavy duty steering bracket and now my drag link tie rod end rests right up against my tie rod. I'm running a HC steering set-up with 1 ton tie rod ends so the drag link and tie rod are perfectly parallel ie. nowhere to go but out. The only two options I can think of are to relocate the str. box and bracket set-up forward a bit or to run a shorter pitman arm. I realize that a shorter arm would limit my turning radius somewhat, but seems to be the easier of the two. The way the bracket fits under the crossmember only allows me to move it forward about 1/2 inch and that creates problems where the bracket mounts to the frame rail. Does anyone have a better idea or is it time to start scrounging the "used parts" facility?
