Tranny Slipping?

I have a 92 YJ, stock AX15 tranny. Since the axle swap I pretty much use 1st gear as a parking brake. My driveway is sloped pretty good. I just parked this morning put the useless parking brake on, put the tranny in first and killed the engine. I heard a kind of "creaky groan" and the jeep started rolling back. It would roll a bit (4-6 inches maybe) and stop, then start again. Felt kinda like the tranny was trying to hold it, but would roll and grab. Of course I chocked the wheels, but that is not going to solve my problem. Does anyone have any ideas????? Do I need a new tranny? will this get worse? what about a better parking brake system?
