What is the proper method for assembling your own fuel line when using 1/2" aluminum line, tube sleeves and tube nuts? How are
these items assembled. What size tube and nut do I use with 1/2" line? Am I better off with steel lines and NPT fittings and AN
adapters?
Im a be prepared type of guy. I have to re-do the fuel system anyway, I figured I'd go ahead and put
a line in that would not have to be redone when I yank the engine again. Aside from that, I'm running
a BG fuel reg that has a 1/2" influent and dual 3/8" effluents... Combine it with the sump I'm welding in
and I figure the fuel system can handle a blown big block when the opportunity arrises.
...oh, also. The 1/2" was the NPT fitting size. Inner Diameter of the tube itself is probably closer to 3/8".
Your right though, 1/2" ID would be monsterous.
I would use 1/2 O.D. line, w/ -8 tube nuts. 1/2"NPT to -8 fittings, and then 3/8"NPT to -6 fittings to braided line to the carb. Or you can go super trick and run braided line all the way. Thats what I did, not to be trick, but I'm paranoid of breaking a line in an accident. I ran "Earls" plumbing, Aeroquip is a little cheaper, same stuff. Summit Racing sells everything. Call Earls and get a catalog of all the cool stuff 310-609-1602. You can also make trick/custom tranny lines, A/C hoses, power steering lines, brake lines, etc
