Thanks everyone for the replies!

I rushed out in a buying frenzy to my local Home Despot and bought a can of acetone. it workd great although I had to use a bit of elbow grease to get rid of the residue left behind. The etching primer went on well.

Now I have a nice, painted platform over the dash of the "SJ-425" for the GPS and refreshing beverage cupholders...[img]images/graemlins/givemebeer.gif[/img] (Dr. Pepper and Mt. Dew)
