Re: \'83 CJ7 clutch adjustment

I also have a 83 cj7 that I bought a few years ago.
When I got it would not shift the smothest.I was not familar with a standard at the time and had no real reference point to how the clutch should feel.To make a long story short.
A)few visit to garage to have clutch adjusted.
would work better for a while.
b)another time one of the cross linkage part was replace
c)another time had one of the linkage pivot arms bronze
to take up some of the slack taken up.
d)was even told that the clutch was most likely gone

The above is a problem I put up for over a year and a half

Solution and What i Learn.
I bought a complete linkage system from clutch pedal down.
for $150.00 cdn.Install linkage system myself and then
adjust clutch.Has work perfect since.

What i have learn
A)No use adjusting a clutch if there is any play in the linkage
B)If there is play in one pivot point the other pivot
points are not far behind in developing play
C)It was a lot cheaper replaceing the whole linkage system
than trying to temp. repair different parts of system
d)watch out for suggestion that are the most expense
and complicated
I do not know if this helps ron
