For the sand, a purpose built dune buggy (sand rail type preferrably) or a cut up bug would probably have a little bit of an advantage. You can go from mild to wild with those from something inexpensive to something you could run the baja in if you so desire. Speed's just a question of money, how fast do you want to go?

On the other hand those vehicles are entirely inadequate in mud or any other similar conditions. For that you'd probably be better off keeping what you have and upgrading some parts or perhaps finding a different vehicle to start building... But it mostly depends on just what it is you want to accomplish and how much you want to spend...</font>
