stripped and seized bolt - how to remove
Hey all:
We've been working on a friends vehicle trying to remove the transmission fill bolt. It is seized and the head is now stripped from pipe wrenches, vise grips and the like. I believe the next option is to try to heat it up and see if it will loosen.
I've got an oxyacetylene wleder which I will be using. What I'd like to get from anyone out there is what is the proper procedure to use. I've never had to do this before (knock on wood) so it will be my first attempt. I will accept any comments, suggestions, safety precautions, etc.
Thanks in advance.
FYI-the vehicle is an 87 F**d Bronco II with a manual tranny. Yes I've told him to get rid of it, but it's got "sentimental value".
