Ferinstance (and this is a pretty weird ferinstance...)

Suppose you were designing an amphibious vehicle and you wanted to reduce holes in the hull that were carrying moving parts... Hydraulic would be a good choice except you would have the problem of control at road speeds as described above.

There were several rock crawlers at the ZookiMelt with hydraulic ram steering. The deal there was the fact that the driver input was multiplied several times at the steering system to gain control without developing "Popeye" arms in the process. Most of the trucks had no sheetmetal to speak of allowing the driver to see where the wheels were. Probably the most famous zuk crawler with ram steering is the Crustacean. 4 wheel steering. Cool.
