Getting ready to finish my custom rocker guards. Was wondering what you all are using to finish them off with. Was thinking of plain old black spray paint. Maybe Hammerite for a little glitz!
Also just got some Herculiner from Checker when they had it on sale. Had a wild hair up my "you know what" last night and though about coating it with that when I do the tub. Anyone got any suggestions? Anyone got any pics of a Herc'ed rocker guard? Let's see some pics if ya got em!
1. Me, I'm a Hammerite fan..
2. I'd dip the Jeep in it if I could.
3. That said..
4. Remember a couple of things...
5. Those rockers are gonna get beat up on the trail,
6. And maybe even the Parking Lot!
7. So you want a coating easily refurbished...
8. And easily obtained two years from now...
9. I'd say Herc'ing the inside of the rocker guards would be fine...
10. But what abut when you tear it up on a rock?
11. Me, I'd use some sort of paint on the outside surfaces,
12. It's a lot easier to maintain, over time.
Where or how would I order/purchase Hammerite? I want to use it in the bed of my old Ford and am considering it for the tub of the CJ instead of Herculiner.
Around here, you can get it like it's water. It's everywhere! Almost every Tom, Dick, and Harry store has it. Wal-Mart has it here in Utah. That's where I get mine.
Thanks, LEVE. As usual you are a wealth of information. I must have not been looking in the right places or hard enough. And if you knew just how big this town is . . .
by far the best coating for them is herculiner. thick, durable, repairable
