That depends on the amount of lift you have. Jack up the rig and get the full drop of the axle to find the maximum length needed, then using a floor jack, compress it all the way too. If it extends too much and you jam the shaft, you could do some damage. You need to find 'middle ground' for both extension and compression. I had a 5.5" SPOA lift and 1" extended shackles and only needed a 3/4" spacer. Your setup may vary.
