 85 LT 50 backfired and won't start
My son's LT50 was running great until one day it backfired and that was it. Nothing. Couldn't get it to start or even try to start. It was running great prior to that. So, I've tore open the carb and it was clean but recleaned it. Pulled the exhaust off and blew compressed air through it. Checked for spark and was getting one. I'm getting compression but did not take a compression reading.
All my research here on this forum seems to lead to the timing key on the crankshaft. I say this because when I go to pull start the quad, it does not grab the crankshaft to turn it. You can feel it not grabbing. It did this a few times before it backfired but it had grabbed after a few pulls and started and ran no problem. Anyone with suggestions? My son is buggin me to get it running and I'm all out of suggestions.
