I have two Wilderness 90's. They had the same problem you are describing. When I unpluged the rev-limiter they started. This happened on both of them when they were less than two weeks old. I have now had them for eight months and they are getting hard to start. One of them this past weekend would not start yet the plug was getting spark and everything else worked as you state. I am going to try a new plug, however I think it could also be the coil. I don't know how to test that. I agree, the kids do love them and when they run they are great. The sad part is there is no support for them. I guess you get what you pay for. I will continue to try to keep them running, but I would never buy another one or recomend one to any one else knowing what I know now. I hope this helps and you can get it running.
Hello - thanks for the reply - I understand the issues about support. I don't mind doing things myself, these things can't be that difficutl to fix and - these machines are still being sold at local place...
I have two of them -and one runs just fine - I swapped out the CDI to see if that was the problem and it still didn't start - the Both CDIs worked on the running bike.
I have been reading other forums about ATVs without spark - I am going to replace Stator or Magneto (still trying to figure out which is which or are they one in the same)
I was just going to take my old parts and bring them to local ATV shops to find suitable replacement. Got any ideas about where to find replacement parts.
They state "Each component is individually selected for the highest quality and seamless integration into the final product." In less than 10 hours of use on a go kart, the carburetor was messed up, a belt discentigrated, a wheel and axel came off completely, and the front wheel ball joint completely severed from the steering axel causing extremely dangerous driving conditions all while my kids were driving it. Even after being investigated by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, there is absolutely no concern for safety from Baja Motorsports and they definitely do not care that we spent $1000.00 for a product that is unsafe and unusable.
Sounds like a bad deal - how did you get this issue resolved? Who assembled your ATV?
In any case - I found out something new about my ATV - I was fiddling around with the saftey kill switch or the parental contral switch while my son was cranking the motor - suddenly the ATV fired up for a mere fraction of second.
Something relieved the electrical short when I was playing with the saftey kill switch. What's that all about?
Okay this sounds wierd but I got it running again.
The engine began to fire up when I was messing with the safety kill switch while my son was cranking the engine. So I took of the kill switch and shorted the wires runnning to it.
the bike didn't start right away but I started getting spark again -
I started to fiddle aroung with the choke a little and the little 90cc engine started to roar.
So there you have it - all fixed. Sans Saftey kill switch.
Final comments - I'm really not worried about dealling with the manufacurer - all I want is replacement parts and there seems to be an abundance of similar machines going under different names and have similar parts. Also, since I'm not into racing or have Hi performance goals (yet), just getting the things to start and run is all really care about. These little things fit the bill. (so far)
Maybe if I really get into this stuff I'll upgrade to the big name bikes.
I heard that Baja is moving these little items in high volume - and as far as I can tell (i'm no expert) the quads i have are built pretty sturdy for a kid that weighs less then 200lbs. - I did email customer service and they got back to me asking for more information - although I'm not covered under warranty and I manage to fix my quads without buying any new parts, I didn't need anything from them, but hopefully in the future they will be there when I really need them.

Sure the wilderness 250 atv tranny was junk so Baja is glad to sell you an "improved" one for $200. Then after telling you that all parts are in stock, they take your order and money but send you only some of the parts. IN my case, they tell me after the fact that a new chain needed to fit the new tranny is on backorder with no ETA. It has been several weeks and they just blow me off. They can't even give me the proper sizing so I can go elsewhere and buy the chain. So there sits my machine with a new tranny waiting for a chain. I know....how hard should it be to get the right size chain on my own? The point is that Baja can't be relied upon to provide the most basic parts and can't be trusted to give you the straight scoop.
is this typhoon the same as the baja? my 11 year old rides the wheels off of it. the frame has been busted three times at the swing arm connection, the clutch was toasted four times, the last time I replaced the motor with a thumper 125cc manual clutch unit, no more clutch trouble but the frame is really bugging me, I think because of the recreational type reservoir shocks, they just don't absorb the shock. these handle the corners awesome, to bad they can't take the abuse from an advanced rider
