Weekend Good Times
Well Sunday was a good time. Went to Hemmingway OHV area out of Nampa ID to meet friends. Unfortunately what they call "Rabbit Creek" is not actually Rabbit Creek, where we parked. So we rode all day, they rode all day, we never saw each other.
Actually, I rode for about an hour in the Polaris RZR; hubby and son rode for many more hours on the Yamaha and Can-Am. That RZR is a blast but I can't (won't) ride fast enough to keep up. Good area though, lots of choices of trails. About 300 miles marked for single-track (dirtbike), 200 miles for ATVs, 100 miles for Jeeps.
Monday we tried a new area, Danskin Mountains NE of Boise just a little ways. Like 10 miles. Here the RZR was too wide for the trail, so I pulled up a book and sat for a while. Like 3 1/2 hours! From the helmet cam video that son brought back, very glad I didn't go. A "holy crap" kinda area. Riding along razorbacks with a great view, but NOT my idea of a good time.
Several places where other riders had blown a switchback corner and gone off the trail down into steep brush, one or two where the rider was WAY down the hill. One specifically where two young-ish guys and their young-ish girls were going to have a many-hour project getting the girl's ATV back up the hill, before they were going to go anywhere. Probably not the best first date?
It was all marked and rated though, so if they ended up on a section harder than they were skilled for, it was kinda their own fault. Our riders had a map, and intentionally went looking for the tough stuff. More area was marked for dirtbike than ATV, but looked like a good day or two for either.
So that was our Memorial Day Weekend! How about you?
