i am in the same boat as you, seems western ma. gets all the trails.

but if you want something just to mess around on you can try the area aroud Swan Ave. in Worcester, there all private dirt roads that turn into trails. When i went it got somewhat tight so we had to pull out. But Im thinking about going back and going deeper.

If you guys are willing to come over to the Berkshires on the western side I can give you heads up on tons of trails over here. There is even one that requires min 33" tires (you will scrape!) or preferred 35's and highly suggest a winch or a locker and you CAN NOT run the trail alone.

Others run through the woods right on the MA/NY border, some down near MA/NY/CT, other MA/NY/VT, which are West MT, Bear MT, then October MT, Savoy MT (trails closed to ATV's and trucks) but has some pretty run down old roads that kick butt!

Truly tons of places over this way, the possiblity is endless with a new place to discover all the time.

I live in central MASS as well, right next to worcester. I know there is a large area to off-road around the BARRE DAMN over in rutland. Its a large state park/forest/damn area, and has a lot of trails, a nice old old old prision from early 1900's i beleive, a lot of bogs on harder trails, and one area that at night in the summer, there are THOUSANDS of fireflys(lightning bugs) that light up the area. There are more gates open during hunting season, but I'm not sure what game are around there. Good place for the girl friend Its off of 122 and a few other side streets i cant remember the names of.

Anyways, theres also a disc golf course there too, if anyone is interested. Its a really interesting course, with smaller easy holes, and hard pro tees (though not marked for pro).

If anyones interested in checkin it out, shoot me an email. wangmauler [at]gmail [dot] com

UPDATE!:
I just checked out the place in worcester on swan drive yesturday, nice small area to fool around in. Got to a few dead ends, and even came to someones house that had an old 68 camaro frame sitting there rotting! I talked to the guy and I think I may purchase it for a $250 haha. I was thinkin of starting a build project with one of those, but couldnt find one in decent condition.

anyways, I came accross a few wild turkeys, so careful around there. There is an area as your going up a hill, where there are new developments up a steep hill, and its not really a path - but I followed it and it got really really narrow and i squezed through and was in the middle of the woods pretty much. fun gettin outa that area too

Tonight I'm planning on heading back up to the barre dam area, gonna see if they opened up any of the other trails.

You should also check out Ma Bell which is on Leeds, MA just a little west of Holyoke/Springfield.
