Ocala National Forest - Central Florida

40 miles West of Daytona on SR40. The Big Scrub Campground (Intersection of Forest Road 588 & 573) in the Ocala National Forest is the main staging area for most Off-Roaders in our area. Camping is $4.

Deep Sugar Sand, approx 400,000 acres of Forest Roads and trails, lots of ATV trails.

I'm an ATV'er and Jeep'er, but I see alot of sand rails and 4x4 trucks. I've attached a picture of the campground.

Looks like fun up there. I live in Port St. Lucie and it's hard to find any good places to go around here. During hunting season I can run all over the 65,000 acres at Corbett WMA but access is limited to the main grades only the rest of the year. I'll have to plan a weekend up that way one of these days.

You may want to wait a couple of months. It's hot in Ocala right now. There is absolutely no breeze through that place. I usually head north into the mountains as Ocala heats up.

I went to a place called river ranch, its like 70 square miles of camping, hunting, ATV riding, and apparently partying. The deal is if you buy like 1/4th of an acre you get access to the entire property (48 thousand acres) as if it were your own. Any way, a friend of mine owns a few acres he wants to get rid of so it might be worth checking out
