1997 Polaris 500 hubs

I have a 1997 Polaris 500 Xplorer which is about the same as the Sportsman etc. The front hubs will not engage the magnets are working, everything inside is clean the springs are new the spacer plate the the 3 nipples are new. They just will not engage. If anyone can help it would be appreciated. The AWD light comes on. Everything seems to be ok except they will not engage.
