I think the Polaris Sportsman 500 through 700 have been unfairly omitted from the list, and I also don't think it fair to put the Prarie 650 up against the 500's... Out of those on the list I think I'd stay away from the Grizzly, some people have been reporting having fuel boiling and vapor lock problems, and very little help from Yamaha in dealing with it... Won't even acknowledge that it exists in some cases... Could be potentially dangerous, although some are said to be lucky enough to not have problems for whatever reason...
Just my thoughts...

Here is what I have seen and heard!!!
Artic Cat auto.. Belt promlems, not a TRAIL atv great work horse but if you are gonna do mostly trail riding the Man. cat is a lot better and will carry a load..Another thought is A/C is comming out with a NEW 650 with the Kaw. 650 motor indenpendet all around should have killer ground clearance and the Kaw is super..
Rubicon if you are gonna run stock tires and some trail riding a good ATV no belt to worry about but I have seen that the trans is not up to pulling 27" tires when you go playing in the mud.
Griz... RUN as fast as you can... We have 4 members in our club with the overheating problem that they can not get rid of.. if you want to talk scarry start up a hill and the thing starts spitting sputtering and won't make it up and the brake wont hold you then yoy get Maddddd..
Kaw 650.... My wife has one with about 2,500 miles on it only had one belt put on and an endine brake lever replaced
Super nice ride and is great climbing hills nice balance. All the power you need and I have yet see the belt get wet not that it can't but we ride West Va a lot and the creeks get really deep and never had a problem. YET!!
Just my 2 3 4 cent worth
Hope this helps.
