| | | Are They Serious ????????
I noticed on my Sportsman 400 that the left outer tie-rod boot was torn when I serviced it. I brought it back to the dealer and they said "It's a problem Polaris is having with the left side with Aftermarket wheels. The wheels rub on the tie-rod and take the boot off. The tie-rod is sealed and you don't need it. " They do have a wheels spacer kit ( $100 ) to fix the problem, but that will actually wear the tie-rods out faster due to more weight on the hubs. The funny thing about all this ~~ The wheels ( and tires ) are GENUINE POLARIS ACCESSORIES .....
Does this make SENCE to anyone ....... ??
Granted, I could put the "stock" tires back on, but then I would have a brand new set of wheels and tires just sitting there ......
Any ideas .....

It sounds to me , that when you ordered your genuine Polaris parts for your quad, your friendly neighborhood dealer clicked on the wrong wheels when placing your order, either wrong model/year , or wrong offset on the wheels . Now they don't want to admit they goofed , and don't want to fix their mistake . I would call a few other Polaris dealers and ask them about it , but don't tell them what your dealer told you right away , just tell them you bought the Polaris wheels , and they rubbed and tore the boot, and see what they say about it . If you get a similar answer from some of the other dealers as you did from yours , they may not be trying to hide anything , but it sounds unusual to me .

Does anyone know where to find 3/4" to 1" wheel spacers. The rear wheels already stick out 3" on each side past the front, but the dealer said I would have to put spacers all the way around. I figured a small spacer on the front would be just enough to clear the tie-rods and still not "over-track"the rears ....

Before you go blaming someone, realize any time you change something from stock you generally run into other issues.
Anytime you put larger tires or more aggressive tires on, you are going to add more wear to your machine. This is generally true with tie rod ends, bearings, bushings, anything that would wear under normal conditions are going to wear more with items like aggressive tires let alone adding length to your hubs. Wheel spacers are available and can greatly add stability to your machine under hard cornering, however, they add width to your machine and in tight trails, they are tight enough.
