Dear Four Wheeling Enthusiast:
The Black Hills 4-Wheelers are proud to present the 26th ANNUAL DAKOTA TERRITORY CHALLENGE. The Challenge will be held August 28th through September 1st, 2008.
The Dakota Territory Challenge offers a variety of trails with several levels of difficulty. We have trails that are just for you whether you like scenic tours, moderate trails, or technical rock crawling. Trail ratings are assigned so that you know the vehicle requirements for each trail. All vehicles will undergo a technical inspection and will be ranked based on the vehicle requirements listed in the trail ratings. Please review the vehicle requirements and come prepared.
Headquarters will be at the Whispering Pines Campground at the intersection of US Highway 385 and the Silver City junction. The campground is under new ownership this year and we are looking forward to continuing our tradition of headquartering our event at Whispering Pines. The new owners of the campground and the Black Hills 4-Wheelers are working hard this year to make your experience at our event a pleasant one. In addition to our normal camping, Whispering Pines has four cabins and one house for rent. www.blackhillswhisperingpines.com. Camping spots are on a first come first serve basis. Please check in with the campground upon arrival.
The DTC 2008 fee for each vehicle, its driver, and four nights of camping is $175. Each additional passenger age 16 and older will be charged $60. Registration is due no later than May 15th, 2008. Registrations will be processed using a lottery system. All registrations will be assigned a number as they are received and a drawing will be held after the cut off date of May 15th, 2008. If you want to attend the event with friends, put all your registrations together in the same envelope. Multiple registrations in one envelope will be drawn together during the lottery. The 2008 Challenge is limited to 100-registered vehicles. Cancellations prior to July 1st, 2008 will be refunded after the Challenge. Cancellations after July 1st, 2008 are non-refundable. Registration transfers will be accepted if notification of the transfer is received by August 15th, 2008. Please make sure that you sign the back of the application before you mail it in.
