I got a pop up camper for my pickup. and i want to cut in a window A/C unit. the Question i have is does anyone know if they use studs in camper walls or is it just plywood under the outside skin? Its a Starcraft built in 87. thanks for any info.
The best you can expect is 2" x 2" studs,,,spaced only at corners, with one about every foot or so...Had a few in the past and that is what I found when I installed a furnace, also did some repairs.
Hey, I have been thinking about getting one too. Can you send me some pictures ? I am curious as to how they look up and down.
Thanks. nicklatto@rawrightagency.com
Hey got the a/c unit installed easy also I removed a window that i didn't use and made the little 5100 btu A/C fit. Now it is like a meatlocker in there when it runs. thanks all for the info there was just plywood for the wall covered by the siding.
I believe four wheel campers just uses a thin aluminum skin. I have been drawing up pop-up ideas for a while, also with the idea of using 1x1" aluminum framing and a flat aluminum skin, but thick enough to not worry about dents and such. Someone will break a window or lock before they try to cut through the aluminum wall.
