Straight axle time!

Well my Tacoma is in the shop getting some of the front end issues taken care of. It hasn't even been a year since I drove the truck off the lot and the front end is phucked. I've decided to go ahead and swap in a dana 44 but I don't have the steering figured out due to the factory sack of peanuts steering. I assume most other Tacoma owners have spent a good amount of time staring at the factory suspension awaiting the day when the blue tipped wrench fixes it for good. So what have you guys been thinking for steering? I've been thinking either replining the stock shaft higher up and trying to run a shaft to a 86-95 Steering box up front. Or hopefully finding a steering box out of some sort of van where the ssteering shaft enters from the top that could be placed behind the axle then link to the knuckles with custon arms pointed to the rear of the truck. So are there anyother ideas that you guys have seen or thought of? Thanks

If you go to Robert Cannon's site, he has swapped a Dana 44 into his Taco(AkA FrankenTaco). He has a good section about the steering setup, cause it took him two different setups to get it right. His website is at: http://128.83.80.200/taco/

Great site, thanks for the info. You confirmed my worst suspisions, the steering is going to be a royal pain in the rear.
