| | new member - '98 Tacoma Hi, my name is Andy & I'm new to the forum. I just got a '98 Tacoma base model reg cab 4x4. Has the 2.7 eng & 5-speed, stock suspension, 235 tires. I used to have a 2wd '99 Tacoma and I liked that truck so that's what led me to get this one.
I'm not really interested in using the truck on trails at this point, at least not anything the stock truck couldn't handle. I do have a lot of trail experience over the last 30 years in several different vehicles but never anything hardcore.
With this truck I am interested in being well prepared, ready for adverse weather and light trail duty. I am interested in things such as gearing, from what I can tell I think this truck has 3.95 1st gear/2.28 t-case/4.10 rear. I may use it to pull a light trailer like a small utility flat bed or small pop up camper. I want to add a tach & possibly other gauges since they didn't come with it.
I've belonged to forums before for full size Bronco and for Samurai. It's nice to know others with the same vehicle and be able to share information.
Nice to meet ya'll,
Andy Bridgeman

| | 98 Tacoma I also have a 98 Tacoma, I bought it brand new off the dealers lot. It has a 2.7 4-banger, 4x4, with 31x10.50 tires. No problems with anything. I have had it off road and also drive it dailey. I also installed a rough country lift kit in it. |
