99 Tacoma Suspension Lift

I agree with your statement. Trust me, I was not a delivery guy when I put the lift on. It kind of fell in my lap. I did plan to have problems like I am now. It jsut kills me that the dealership is blaming all the problems on the lift kit, which I still dont think is the issue. I mean, whe I did a 12 inch lift on my chevy, I could see how that would throw off the angles a bit, but not a simple 3 inch. The driveline was just replaced, so I think it will be fine. The motor is new as well, so other than the tranny I cant think of any major problems. Then again I am probably dead wrong.

The dealership is ALWAYS GOINT TO BLAME THE LIFT> it is a easy escape and they can blame you not the toyota name. A 3inch lift is not as simple as you think on this truck. Your cv's, ball joints, driveline, etc are all at angles they were not intended to run at for long periods of time. THink of it like this... when you are flexing up front offroading your cv's move and ball joints and front drive line. with that 3inch lift it is like the truck is always flexing. Lots of stress. I am sure your chevy had a SFA. NOt the IFS that this truck has.

I have a 98 Tacoma with a Rough Country lift kit. I have had this kit installed for 3 yrs, with no problems. I also have 31x10.50 tires on it. I run a 2.7 4-banger with no trouble.

That is how it works. SOme get no trouble while others have to replace cv's or the boots every year. It also depends on what you do in the truck. If it never sees more then a dirt trial you will be much better off then someone who wheels it once a month or more.

yes and no. the tapered shim does somewhat correct driveline angles, except thatr in a perfect world the 2 joints should be the same as each other OR in the case of an upper cv the lower u joint should be straight. just remember that the world isn't perfect and parts don't last forever
