Default 2006 Toyota Tacoma Tires

I have a 2006 Toyota Tacoma TRD 4X4, and I'm looking to replace the tires within the next six months or so. I've been looking at BFGoodrich, Dunlop, and Goodyear Wrangler MT/R mud tires. Now, the standard tire size, or the tires that are on there are 265 70/R16, and for now I want to get a little bit bigger tire, but keep them on these same rims.

How big of a tire can I safely put on these rims? What tires do you recommend? And also, where would be a good place to start to look for custom rims?

Thanks for the help!

for a larger tire you are looking at adding some lift to your ride. so think about a lift or stay with the 265/70's.. if you are doing 90% street driving then i would get some AT not MT. You can not go wrong with the BFG AT... great tires for all kinds of road, dirt, snow, ice, rock, etc. you can have 33 10.5on the stock wheels.. I would not go any larger then that without some new wheels. online is a great place to look for cusotm rims(wheels)

I run a 31x10.50 dayton timberline a/t. I have 35,000 miles on these tires and over half tread left on them. These were about half the price of the BFG's and they are real quiet. Dayton does make a mud tire. On the custom rims it depends on what kind of driving you are going to be doing. Steel vs. alum. I have no lift on my 95 Tacoma and the 31's fit great
