Default Suspension ideas?

I have: 1996 Taco ext. cab. 6' bed. 4x4, 4 cyl (once blown, put in a diesel), winch and bumper
I use it for: Work (hauling material), camping/off roading, driving fast on dirt roads.
I live in Utah, and drive in desert, slickrock, and mountains.
I'd like to be able to haul heavly loads. carry camp gear, and nuke on washboard/ rough road.

Question: What mods would one recommend to improve handling on and off road. And off road performance, crawling and driving fast? Cheap yet functional is key.

What i'm currently thinking: Rancho 9000's (a bit longer than current shocks) and get a (coil) spacer kit to compensate on the coil length. Change the bottoming bumper to a shorter bumper stop. Swaybar quick connects. And either air shocks in rear, or a simple add-a-leaf.

Once i get more power out of a new motor, i'd like to increase tire size.

Possibly accompanied by a small body lift. But then I think i may as well get a 2" OME lift kit to begin with. But im not sure if there's substantial benefits to the OME compared to my first list.

I welcome all thoughts and opinions.
Let me know if this lacks in clarity.
thanks,
tyler t

where in utah are you located? what city is what I am asking. Well I think you need to go a different route for someone who carries heavy loads in his truck when offroad. I will wait and see how close you are to me and if you are close I can just talk to you in person and get this on the right track. If not then i will try online.
