Default 2005 taco intake question.

I got a 2005 2.7L 4x4. i was wandering if anyone has ever tried to do some kind of deckplate mod or something to the intake and if so i would like to know some more about it. also is there some kind of intake silencer in there. i want to take some of the ristricting crap out of there. i just dont hear alot about the newer trucks.

Latest word I've heard is the '05+ airbox/induction system is much improved and the deckplate mod would yield insignificant gain if any. You could only go 3" which would be extremely difficult to fab because of the box configuration; and, the fender to box duct is at least 3" or more anyhow. Suggestion is to remove and replace the duct as conditions warrant.

Volumetric airflow is claimed to be about as much as you can get without changing out the filter. Consider this....more air, more grit and there's just no way around it.

For significant performance gains, supercharge or NOS.

Good luck and regards,

thank you for the info. i got a k&n but i dont like to use it when im wheelin they do tend to suck up alot of dirt. i was just looking for some cheap power gains. i haul trailers with it sometimes and off road i think that i could use a little more wheel spin in the mud sometimes. is there anything cheap that comes to mind?
