Default Rear Axle Seal

Toyota has replaced my left rear axle seal 4 times, it keeps leaking in about 10k, my right one just went at 85k because the bearing was worn so i replaced both myself this time. Has anyone else had any problems.

Take the vent valve out of the top of the axle housing near the 3rd member. Make sure it's nice and clean and re-install it. If you axle can't breathe the pressure builds up and leaks out of the seals because that's the weakest point. Some of us in the truck/suv section install an adapter into the axle and run vac. hose up into the frame area with a filter for added protection against mud/dirt/and sucking in water during crossings.

I did put an extention on the breather and Toyota put a new breather on last time they did the seal, didn't go thru any mud since, and it leaked again, but i will pull it off and check it.
