Default Max tire size on stock Tacoma for snowplow use..

I combed through the archives but didn't find anything
conclusive. As above I have a '96 regular cab 4WD
(no lift) with very worn 31" x 10.5" tires on 15" wheels.
I'd like to go with a larger tire if at all possible and
wonder if I could squeak by with a 32" x 9.5" tire? As
the concern here is plowing a more narrow 9.5" tire isn't
an issue and may actually help tradeoff the larger 32"
tire's clearance.

Anyone know for certain if such a tire would work without
encountering clearance issues?

Thanks.

I have a 2002 extra cab 4wd and before I lifted it I had 265 75 R16 cooper st's which are 32 inches tall and about 10 1/2 inches wide on stock rims with only slight rubbing at max right turns on the frame rail. I had them on the truck for about 2 years and it never bothered me nor damaged the tires. I now have a daystar 2 1/2 spacer lift in the front and 1 1/4 inch shakle lift in the rear. I still have 265 75 R16 tires but now they never rub even at full compression. I think you could fit 33's with my lift with the right rims, got my lift for under 200 dollars. Just my 2 cents

Hmm.. I'm wondering if going to an effective 9.5" width
would be enough to fully clear. You mentioned rubbing
on the frame rail so it seems possible.

Other than this clearence issue the 265 75 cleared under
full height compression?

Thanks.

Sorry it took so long to reply. From what I remember at full turn and under compression the tires did rub but only on the plastic inner fender, but I am for sure that I never had any tire or truck damage from this and I did serious offroading in Montana. Not sure if it was the width or the height of the tires that made them rub on the frame. For some reason only the driver side tire rubbed on the frame at full turn.
