Default Transmissions ?

I'm wanting to get a late model Tacoma 4x4.. I do quite a bit of 4wd driving in the winter.. In the past I've only had standard tranmissions however in looking at dealer inventory auto are far more available.. Are the new autos as durable and lasting as the standards.

Regards,
Pat

I have not heard of any auto tranny failures, other than a few that had the supercharger and drove them hard.

Mileage rating is about the same between the tranny's, so that isn't an issue either.

My 4Runner auto (should be the same as the Taco tranny) has 142K and has had nothing but regular maintenance. And I use it to tow on a semi-regular basis.

Pat, i have a 96 4x4 with the v6 and auto trans. The truck has 235k on it and the trans works great so i dont think durability would be an issue
